The Grace of The First Principle and Foundation

Love and Freedom is based on The First Principle and Foundation of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. As mentioned in the previous section, our goal is to love and serve God in this life so that we can be with him forever in the next.

To get to the point that we respond in love, because of God's unconditional love for us, we pray for the following graces during our retreat.

  • For the grace of interior knowledge of God's unconditional love for me from the beginning of my creation by God.
  • For the grace to recognize that everything is "gift" used to help me know and experience God's unconditional love for me.
  • For the grace of interior knowledge of God's faithfulness to me throughout my life.
  • For the grace to choose to make God the center of my life.
  • For the grace to choose spiritual freedom in and with God over the attachments of this world.
  • For the grace to say "yes" to God and respond with complete trust and willingness to do whatever God asks for love.

As a result, we open ourselves to seeing and trusting in God's love for each of us, we desire to respond to God out of our love for God, free of the attachments of this world, and we serve God by seeing and developing the gifts God has given us then sharing them openly with others.
